The blogosphere is a rich and rewarding community of like minded individuals. No matter what your interests, there is almost certainly a blog, or group of blogs, that will appeal to you. There are literally thousands of blogs out there. So take a look around - inspiration is everywhere.
You might be thinking to yourself why on earth would I want to do that? I want to get to work on producing my own blog. I don't have time to waste on reading other peoples blogs. I hope not, because this would be very shortsighted. There a couple of great reasons to follow and support other blogs.
The first thing to consider is the importance of community for growing your blog. I looked at the idea of community in some depth in a previous post which you can review here. What I really want to emphasize now, is how much your own blog can benefit when you become more involved in the blogging community.

Most people get involved in blogging because they enjoy the social interaction. Blogging is not like traditional media. It's considerably more interactive. The successful blogs not only allow for comments on their site, they actively encourage them by getting directly involved in the conversation. If you're not willing to do this, you'll have a difficult time attracting people to your own site.
Another great reason to get involved with other blogs is the source of inspiration they can be for your own blog. Suffering a little writers block? Your peers can be just the inspiration you need to get back on the writing horse.

This doesn't mean you want to copy what others have said. You want your blog to reflect your own ideas and opinions. But almost all great ideas have their spark in someone else's work. What you want to do is continue the conversation - take an idea and add your own twist to it. If you ignore other blogs as a source of inspiration, you are really limiting yourself.
